Alexandra Reid:
My story begins in when I was 7 years old, since then I have battled with extreme allergies, including some but not limited to shellfish, peanuts and tree nuts, and various fruits and vegetables. Being the youngest child in my family my mother had never experienced this extreme of allergies with any of my other siblings, ( For context, I am the youngest of twelve) so she took me to the doctor and tried to find answers. This is where my trouble started, the doctor told her since there were no fruits and vegetables that I could eat, to instead eat any food that was highly preserved.
My mom was skeptical because what part of processed foods are healthy to feed your child, but this being what felt like her only option, she did as the doctor recommended. For a while that worked, and through eliminating all of these foods out of my diet, I gained some fruits and vegetables back. It felt like I was on top of the world, until I wasn't. Once I turned 12 and went through that stage all young women go through with their bodies, I started having extreme food sensitivities again.
Only this time, it was things like, eggs, beef, pork, which I had been able to eat previously, so I found it incredibly bizarre. I had such horrible symptoms from eating these foods that I quickly stopped once I realized it was all linked. (Some symptoms were, feeling incredibly tired after eating, bloating, swelling, vomiting, nausea, and more) My diet became limited and limited until there wasn't much I could eat, and that worked, until it didn't.
Fast forward to when I was 15 or 16, after all of my issues with food it just progressed, I began experiencing issues with gluten. So like everything before, I stopped eating it and I had reduced symptoms, which wasn't great but it was better than I had been feeling. All of a sudden I had an extreme iron deficiency that was low enough I needed to go to the hospital for, which stopped me from being able to drive, because I couldn't control my sleep due to my lack of iron, leading to me to fall asleep behind the wheel.
Things stayed the same for my nutrition, sleep, stress, and many other things all throughout high-school and into the next couple of years. After about a year of eating gluten free, I stopped and just ate whatever I wanted, I figured if I was going to be in pain I was going to at least get what I wanted to eat. That attitude and repetive choice, just worsened my stomach, and things only progressed, it wasn't until Christmas of 2024, when I knew I had to take my health seriously if I ever wanted any kind of change. I also was not able to drive or get a job outside of the home for the fact that I could fall asleep at any momentthe fatigue was so bad and unpredictable.
In December 2024, I was sent a Facebook post from my mom and it was from one of her old students who talked highly about Golden May Wellness. As soon as I saw that post, I made an appointment and started the program in the January, my first week, I stopped bloating, having diarrhea, vomiting, and more issues that came just from simply eating. I began to have more energy, my skin cleared, I got more restful sleep, and overall I just felt better. I felt like a version of me that I haven't seen in a very long time, and I couldn't believe it. And most surprisingly, I am driving and i have a job outside of the home now! Huge improvement to my quality of life!
I couldn't recommend Golden May Wellness enough, with their help I finally have enough energy to work on growing my business, finally drive, and I feel like I have my life back that I didn't even realize I had lost. If you are struggling and you've seen doctor after doctor with no answers, I advise you, save your money, time, and peace, and go to Golden May Wellness.
